How It All Started:

How it all started The Gelu adventure began back in January 2013, in Grand Junction, Colorado a charming town known for juicy peaches, snowy peaks, and now, the coolest dessert in town. Armed with cherished family recipes, one small-batch freezer, and a pair of lime-green pushcarts, Gelu rolled onto the scene with a plan as bold as it was simple: free samples for all! The crowds went crazy for Gelu, lining up in a frenzy for that first frosty bite. That’s when we knew… Gelu was a sensation here to stay.

As the years flew by, one batch freezer turned into two, and our green carts multiplied like crazy. Gelu was everywhere, but the Gelunatics wanted more!
So, in the summer of 2015 we unveiled The Shack, our first sweet spot serving over 30 Italian ice flavors in one place. It didn’t take long for locals to crown us the BEST in The Dessert Election for four years running.

Chasing the Sun

After years of hibernating through Colorado’s chilly winters, we packed our bags in January 2019 for a bold adventure. The lure of palm trees, endless sunshine, and near-year-round sizzle was irresistible Texas was calling! Our trusty pushcarts found their happy place, dishing out thousands of samples and sparking countless smiles. Now, Gelu’s scooping up joy from over 100 concession trailers, vans, and trucks because in Texas, we go big or go home!

As the Gelu craze skyrocketed, we couldn’t keep up alone! In a bold leap, we partnered with our first three licensees, and just like that, our little scoop with massive flavor started dazzling taste buds nationwide.

Gelu is made in batch freezers, which are large ice cream machines. Fruit is pureed, mixed with sugar, water and other flavorings to provide the smooth, flavorful result that is Gelu!

No. Shaved ice is ice with syrup poured over the top. Gelu is more like a sorbet with fruit and other flavors blended together and made in small batches like ice cream. Gelu is made in small batches and is scooped like ice cream. The flavors stay together, with a snow cone the syrup generally ends up at the bottom of the cup with the ice at the top.

Gelu ices are naturally fat free, dairy free, gluten free, cholesterol free and vegan – making them a healthier alternative for those with allergies and dietary restrictions. Many flavors are all natural with no added colorings, no corn syrup, etc. There are even a few sugar free flavors available. Gelu ices are bursting with flavor, and are appealing to young and old customers alike!
